Behind the scenes at a Speaker Life studio filming day, with Lea Woodford interviewing a guest as cameras and lights record

Speakers, Get Off the Content Hamster Wheel

September 28, 2026•3 min read

Speakers, I have a question: how much of your week disappears into the pressure to make another post?

It is easy to get stuck on the content hamster wheel. You record a video for one platform, write something different for another, and then start over tomorrow. Before long, the work of being visible is taking time away from the work you want to be known for.

I prefer to work smarter and more efficiently. I film for one day and turn that day into weeks of useful content. One session can become a full podcast episode, a YouTube interview, short video clips, Instagram posts, a LinkedIn article, a magazine article, and more. Each piece has its own purpose, but they all begin with one thoughtful conversation.

One conversation, many ways to connect

When I sit down with an amazing thought leader, I want to be present. I am listening for the story, the insight, and the moment that will help our audience. I am not trying to invent seven separate topics while the cameras roll.

Afterward, we can share the long conversation with people who want depth. A short clip can highlight one useful idea. A written article can add context and give readers something to return to. A behind the scenes moment, like the filming day in the photo here, lets people see the real work and the relationships behind Speaker Life.

This is what I mean when I say, "Be your own media." You do not have to be everywhere every day. You need a message worth sharing and a plan to carry it to the places your audience already spends time.

How I make a filming day count

Before I step into the studio, I think about the people I want to serve and the questions they are asking. I choose conversations that fit the Speaker Life mission and invite guests whose experience will genuinely help speakers, coaches, and entrepreneurs. That preparation helps me stay on brand without making every interview sound the same.

Then I let the conversation breathe. The best moments often come from curiosity, not a script. Once we have the footage, the team can identify the strongest stories and ideas, edit them for each format, and publish them over time. A podcast listener, a YouTube viewer, and a magazine reader may discover the same guest in very different ways.

There is another benefit I love: the relationships. Filming gives me a chance to connect with remarkable thought leaders, learn from them, and introduce them to our community. That is more meaningful to me than posting just to keep up with an algorithm.

Make room for the personal moments

Batching does not mean every piece of content has to be planned weeks ahead. It gives me breathing room. When I want to share a personal thought, respond to something happening now, or show you what is going on behind the scenes, I can do it from a fresh place. I am not creating out of overwhelm.

If you are a speaker who feels constant pressure to post, try this: plan one focused recording session around a few questions your audience truly cares about. Capture the full conversation. Pull out the best ideas for shorter formats. Turn the strongest theme into an article. Then give each piece time to reach the right people.

One day of filming can do far more than fill a content calendar. It can keep your voice consistent, deepen relationships, and leave you with the energy to show up as yourself.
